Challenge of the week!
We thought it would nice to start on the subject of PRAISE with a Challenge on cultural praise! *swipe post for detail*
Culture is as important as race. As it constructs our use of language and ways of life including our interaction with our children ! Praise should be a main aspect of parenting ! It is important to praise children for EVERY good thing they do!
During sessions with parents I love to get them to share with me a phrase that was used on them as a child in terms of praise, in a different language or even in English. The breakdown of meaning is always enjoyable to discuss. It produces such a happy moment and makes them realise how praising their child more can be natural and fun. .
Comment below with a praise term that is used in your culture !

Sickle cell disease is the name for a group of conditions that effect the red blood cells, a condition that can have a great impact on families.
*
*
It is a well known fact that sickle cell is more common in ethnic minorities, 1 in 7 black people have sickle cell *
*
At times, people with the condition can feel ignored or misunderstood- which is why it is important that we are all educated on the condition.
The parent advice hub will be providing workshops to teachers and parents, on how to support children and parents with the condition, in terms of education and day to day life.
Swipe for some simplified points on sickle cell.
